FOR OUR HEALTH
Cancer
The incidence of cancers in the developed world is rising, and the onset is at younger ages. The lifestyle choices we make (in particular diets rich in meats, processed foods and low in fibre) are the main contributor to this.
WFPD foods are packed with anticancer nutrients - fibre, vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals.
Studies show a link between eating red (especially processed) meats and increased cancer risk, especially colorectal cancer (the fastest growing incidence and now number 2 cancer in Singapore). WHO classifies processed and red meat as a Class 1 carcinogen, meaning it carries the same risk of causing cancer as does smoking. And kids are eating hot-dogs and nuggets?
Interestingly, soybeans (and other legumes and beans in lesser amounts) contain a special nutrient called phytoestrogen, which has a major benefit of reducing risk of breast and prostate cancer. Phytoestrogens also decrease menopause symptoms.
